Liz & Murray's Wedding Card, Cake & Painting

Very proud of these (even if they are a little late on here). My sister in-law Liz, had asked my 16 year old daughter Jayda, to paint a picture of the happy couple for their wedding day, I think it turned out fabulous and they loved it too.

The cake was a team effort, baked by my mother in-law Glenda and decorated by me : )
The two tier cake with the flowers on top was the main cake on display. It was a 14" square on the bottom and 10" square on the top. Both tiers were chocolate mud cake covered in chocolate ganache and white fondant. The swirls were hand painted with a Navy petal dust and rose spirit (and yes...it was a little tricky to keep them even on each side- no pressure, just a wedding cake!).  There was also a spare cake-with the swirl on top, to make sure that there was plenty for everyone and for people who prefer fruit cake -(not with marzipan though) and I must admit fruit cake and chocolate ganache are quite nice together... mmm.

Jayda painted this picture with acrylic paint onto a thick canvas roughly the size of A4 paper. With a heads up on what the bride and groom were wearing as well as flower colours Jayda knew how they should look, with the exception of hair and make of course, which was styled differently on the day.

Stamps: Floral Phrases
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Whisper White and Thick White
Ink: Night of Navy
Tools: Detailed Floral Thinlits Die
Embellishments: Rhinestone Jewels & Floral Boutique Washi Tape
Ribbon: White Satin & Night of Navy Grosgrain

Of course I had to make the card navy and white, because the brides maids were in navy dresses and it matches the cakes.

This is a secret message card, so I wrote the message in the hidden section... only to be asked a few months later, "how do we open the card to read it?" : ) That was funny, but once shown they were impressed, with a "Ooh so that's how it works" kind or reaction.

Just in case you missed Jayda's handy work at the top of the post... here it is again : D
